Conference and Medieval corporate away day for The Planning Shop International in Windsor

The Client

As a company, The Planning Shop focus purely on pharmaceuticals and healthcare, but their roots lie in consumer marketing. In the highly competitive pharmaceutical industry where it’s every brand for itself, this gives them a unique advantage. It helps them to give clients’ brands the edge over the competition in this challenging arena.

With almost 20 years of consumer and healthcare experience under their belt, The Planning Shop is the first place many marketing professionals come to for expert assistance in building healthier brands.

The Brief

The Planning Shop approached Gable Events to organise their two-day annual company event. The client wanted a venue that could house their conference, dinner, evening entertainment and accommodation with a full day of activities for approximately 50 delegates and a professional events company that would take away the stress and time required to put it all together. The client’s brief was for relaxing activities on the first evening and a full day of activities to follow that were unique, engaging and not too sporty. Gable Events were selected to organise the whole experience with De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor as the chosen venue and a Medieval Day as the ideal event to fit the brief.

The Venue

The story of De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor is a very British one; a tale of democracy, royalty, education and religion. At its heart, sits an 18th-century mansion, a chapel, 75 event spaces and a Georgian white house in 40 acres of parkland. The Beaumont Estate’s location within an hour of the client’s office in Ealing and cost-effective package comprising spacious grounds and ideal facilities for a cabaret style meeting, three-course sit down dinner and accommodation made it the perfect choice for this event.

The Event

After a productive day of conferences, The Planning Shop delegates were ready to let their hair down and relax for their evening meal and disco complimented by table football and air hockey provided by Gable Events. The night ended with the guests full of anticipation for the day of activities to follow.

Donning the traditional dress provided, the group was split into six teams to compete head to head in morning activities of long bow archery, pull the boar and axe throwing and after a break for lunch, trebuchet building, falconry and target jousting in glorious sunshine. The group entered fully into the spirit of the event choosing some great team names on the Medieval theme with The Barbarians, Dragon Slayers, Jousting Jesters, Wacky Wizards, The Bow Masters and Castle Stormers all competing to be top knights. Gable Events event manager, dressed as King for the day, read out the results to reveal ‘The Barbarians’ as the winners of the money bags full of replica Medieval coins in a hugely successful event enjoyed by all.
